AUSTRALIA BREAK ALL TIME RECORD

If we look at each Test match, rather than each series, as being the basic 'unit of competition', then Australia became the highest rated side of all time when they defeated England in the fourth test at Melbourne at the end of December. Their rating of 91.00 surpassed the previous best of 90.42, set by the Australian tourists in South Africa in 1950.

They have dropped back a little after losing the 5th Test in Sydney, but still have one of the highest ratings recorded.
