The Elephant Rankings are so called because current ratings normally take account of every available result in the history of a sport.
Our World Football rankings go back to 1949, to the first World Cup qualifying matches after the 2nd World War, and our Test Cricket rankings go way back to the 1880's.
The system can also be used to provide form guides, and to predict final positions in league competitions.
The Elephant Ranking System is based on the following chart, which calculates 'Core Rating Changes' based on the match result and the relative strength of the opposition. These Core Rating Changes are then subject to weighting factors.

The figures in the chart can be changed, and Core Rating Changes can also be viewed as a table of the following form:
